2008 Major Beneficiaries

A Reason to Survive - Las Patronas will provide ARTS with a fully equipped ADA compliant mobility van to transport children with various types of physical disabilities, allowing them to experience the power of art.

Burnham Institute for Medical Research - Las Patronas will purchase a Shimadzu Xcise robot for the characterization of proteins, to further its mission of conducting world-class, collaborative medical research to cure human disease.

Christian Community Theater develops character in children and adults through training in the arts, and by producing family entertainment. Funds from Las Patronas will build a “Black Box Theater” where CCT/CYT and other arts groups can test new works.

Diversionary Theatre is the nation’s third oldest continuously producing lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender theater group. Las Patronas funds will purchase a new wheelchair lift that will enable every patron to access the second floor theater space.

The La Jolla Historical Society is dedicated to the discovery, collection and preservation of La Jolla’s heritage. Las Patronas is providing archival preservation, digitization, and storage equipment to properly care for the Society’s image collection.

La Jolla Music Society - The minivan purchased by Las Patronas will transport artists, small performing ensembles, and volunteers to performances and outreach engagements in schools and community centers.

The Rebecca and John Moores UCSD Cancer Center promotes and sustains excellence in clinical research, cancer prevention, and the highest quality of clinical care. This grant will fund equipment and appliances for the center’s Healing Foods Kitchen.

The Salvation Army - Senior Dining & Social Centers - Funding from Las Patronas will make it possible for The Salvation Army to obtain a new “hot shot” truck that will deliver hot and cold meals to seniors in the South Bay area.

San Diego Habitat for Humanity seeks to eliminate poverty housing and make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Las Patronas will provide SDHFH with a new phone system and software so that they may function more productively and efficiently.

San Diego Hospice and Palliative Care - The 20 laptops funded by Las Patronas will be used by field staff as a reliable and efficient mode of communication, strengthening their ability to care for patients and ensuring seamless quality care.

San Diego Opera is dedicated to producing opera and vocal arts of the highest artistic caliber. Las Patronas will underwrite three new follow spotlights that will dramatically highlight the Company’s lead singers as they move about on the stage.

Scripps La Jolla Heart Center at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla -
Las Patronas will help fund electrophysiology stereotaxis equipment for use in treating complex arrhythmias, resulting in better patient outcomes and continued excellence in cardiac care.

UCSD Shiley Eye Center - Granted funds will pay for an examination room on a new EyeMobile for Children, which will help the center achieve its program goals of screening 10,000 low-income children each year.

Vista Hill - Stein Education Center - Support from Las Patronas will provide a wheelchair-accessible van with a lift to transport developmentally and physically disabled children and adults on field trips, educational outings, and vocational training activities.

2007 Special Grant in Response to San Diego Wildfires

UCSD Regional Burn Center - In direct response to the devastating San Diego wildfires of 2007, Las Patronas is awarding this special grant for the acquisition of Total Contact, Inc. burn mask scanning equipment for the treatment of burns to the face, neck and chest.
